KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Thursday a Benton County jury got to hear tapes of a conversation between a psychologist and a woman accused of murder. Phien Sisouvanh has pleaded innocent by reason of insanity to charges of killing a pregnant woman and cutting out the unborn baby. In a tape recorded this summer, you can hear Sisouvanh saying she knows she's pregnant, even after two years of being behind bars. The defense has been talking to the psychologist, Dr. Philip Barnard, since Wednesday. Dr. Barnard says a number of different psychological and neurological tests point to her being classified as insane.


Franklin County, Wash. -- Franklin County Sheriff's Deputies are putting a leash on the dangerous dog problem in the county, after a couple was bit last month while walking their own dog near Pasco. Normally different cities have their own animal control, but this incident happened in an unincorporated area in Franklin County. Wednesday, commissioners unanimously approved a contract with the Animal Hospital of Pasco off Argent Rd. to house the animals for the deputies. Benton County however is moving along with their animal shelter, a 3,200 square foot building which is expected to be completed end of the year. It will have about 36 kennels and will cost the county approximately $815,000.


DAYTON, Wash. -- Bluewood Ski Resort is in the process of being sold to new owners. Mike and Kelly Stephenson of Kennewick will take over the resort. Mike Stephenson is a PSIA Certified Level III ski instructor and is currently the Training Director at the ski school. He has over 15 years of experience at Bluewood. Kelly Stephenson is a PSIA Certified Level I ski instructor. Plans are to open and operate the ski area for the 2010-11 seasons. Once the sale is complete, the new owners have agreed to honor all current season passes that have been sold and resume sales of passes for the upcoming season.
