YAKIMA, Wash. -- St. Joseph Marquette Catholic School in Yakima got a real gem of a treat to help boost sales for their 6th annual Salmon Dinner, Dance and Auction event.
A parent at the school, who had been working on a marketing project with singer Janet Jackson, was able to get a pair of 5 carat diamond earrings donated from the pop icon to be used in the school's auction.
The earrings are being held at Dunbar Jewelers in Yakima, have been appraised at about $50,000 dollars.
"Opened up this jewelry box and here are these monster earrings looking at us. And it's like ... We're just in shock. It was just so exciting to see something that amazing," said Gregg Pleger, Principal of St. Joseph Marquette, when they received the jewelry box sent by Janet Jackson from a hotel in New York.
You can bid for Janet Jackson's earrings at Saturday's annual Salmon Dinner and Auction. The event is being held in Queen Gymnasium, located at 5502 W. Chestnut Avenue, and runs from 5:30 p.m. until 11 p.m.
