House fire in Finley

FINLEY, Wash. -- Fire crews quickly put out a house fire in Finley today. The blaze broke out in a one-story home on East Cochran Road around 3 PM Friday afternoon.

Firefighters responded after a neighbor noticed smoke and flames coming from the home.

Chief Mike Harris of Benton County Fire District 1 says crews got the blaze out before it was able to spread.

He explains the scene saying, "fire was coming out of the back door, heavy smoke. So the information was forwarded to the 911 dispatch center, we were dispatched. The crews got here relatively quickly from their station the first station here. they knocked the fire down really quick."

Chief Harris adds that the damage to the home was contained to the back end where the kitchen and laundry are located. the rest of the home only suffered smoke damage. No one was home at the time of the fire.
