KENNEWICK, Wash.-- A family of four had a frightening start to their day this morning.
Just after 4 a.m. firefighters received multiple calls about a fire on 14th Avenue and Alder Street near Keene General Hospital.
The family was able to get out of the house without being hurt. The fire appeared to have started in a shed and spread through the backyard.
"Our units arrived and were able to perform a transitional fire attack which is to say they knocked it down from the exterior and kept the fire out of the main house," says Batallion Chief Mikal Barnett.
Firefighters were able to get the flames under control after about an hour. They're still investigating the cause.
