The Second City opens new Capitol Theatre venue Tuesday
YAKIMA, Wash. – The Capitol Theatre lifts the curtain on its new black box venue Tuesday night with the first of a weeklong set of performances by the sketch comedy group, The Second City.
The 4th Street Theatre promises a more intimate and relaxed feel to the Capitol's original stage. Staff say you won't know where your seat end and where the stage begins in its new facility. Beverage service will also be provided before each show.
The Second City, famous for starting the careers of Allan Arkin, Gilda Radner, Bill Murray, Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey among others; will be the inaugural show at the theatre. The group's appearance in Yakima will also kick off the Capitol's "On The Edge Uncensored" series for the 2010-11 season.
Performances run Tuesday through Friday at 7:30 p.m. with two shows at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are available by calling (509)853-ARTS, visiting the Capitol Theatre Box Office, or contacting TicketsWest.
In addition to the 400-seat theatre, the expansion project also includes upgrades to the older theatre as well as the creation of a new production center.
