Eavesdropping investigation in murder case to begin next month
PASCO, Wash. -- At the conclusion of the Phien Sisouvanh trial, Benton County Prosecutor Andy Miller will turn his attention to the investigation of a police detective who allegedly eavesdropped on a telephone conversation between a defense lawyer and a man accused of murder.
Kurtis Chapman is accused of murdering his pregnant ex-girlfriend and her unborn child. Chapman's attorney says that phone call, which took place from county jail, violated Chapman's civil rights and merits all charges be dismissed.
The Franklin County prosecutor turned the investigation over to Miller, who is scheduled to reveal his findings next month.
