Three people in custody for Monday night Yakima shooting
YAKIMA, Wash. – Yakima Police have three people in custody in connection to a Monday night shooting in the 300 block of N. 1st Street that sent two people to the hospital.
Both victims, a 26-year-old white man and a 33-year-old white woman, remain in the hospital Tuesday for treatment of what appear to be non-life threatening injuries, according to YPD.
Officers responded to a call around 11:25 p.m. at the Smitty's Conoco gas station where they found the male victim in the parking lot with gunshot wounds to his head and torso and the female victim inside the convenience store with injuries to her arm and leg.
The man and woman were in the parking lot when they were confronted by a man who fired multiple rounds with a handgun. The suspect fled the parking lot north in the alley behind the gas station, police said.
The gang unit joined detectives and officers in an early-morning investigation that lead to the three people now in custody. The suspect was not immediately located.
YPD continues to investigate this case and asks anyone with more information to call (509) 575-6200.
