Owner of Inland Octopus hires lawyer

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The owner of Inland Octopus in downtown Walla Walla has hired an attorney to help him fight to keep the giant mural of an octopus on the front of his toy store.

Bob Catsiff says, "I feel that I'm in the right. I've felt that way the entire time...before I painted the mural, I wasn't told why I couldn't do it, so I did it."

On Thursday, October 14th, the City of Walla Walla issued Catsiff a notice of civil violation, stating the painting is a sign, not a mural. Catsiff says it is art. He is getting fined $100 a day for each day the painting remains up. Catsiff was also charged an additional fee for a painting of a rainbow that was put above the store's back door months ago.

Catsiff tells KNDU there will be a hearing on November 18th. An examiner will listen to both sides and decide what will be done next.
