Less than 20 percent of Cash for Appliances funding remains
OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Washington State Department of Commerce says its running out of funding for the Cash for Appliances program and all residents should submit applications immediately if they want to qualify for a rebate.
More than $4 million have gone to help consumers in the state by new, energy-efficient or "ENERGY STAR" appliances. The 30,000 people who have received rebates have helped to generate $30 million in retail sales, according to the department.
Funds cannot be reserved and will only go to completed applications that include information on new purchases.
Washington began with $5,607,450 for the program but now 17 percent or $937,725 remains.
In the final phase of the program, it may take more than six weeks to process rebates. To learn more or get started on an application, visit the state's program website.
