Nationally recognized speaker talks about the role of parents in youth sports
PASCO, Wash. -- Parents and coaches got some great advice Monday night from a nationally recognized expert on leadership for coaches, athletes, business leaders and parents.
Bruce Brown, who's the director of Proactive Coaching Corporation, spoke at Columbia Basin College about the role of parents in youth sports.
He says the message he shares comes from the kids he's coached for more than 30-years. He says what they've taught him has not only helped him improve as a coach, but also as a father.
"So this whole message is from kids' hearts. This whole message is from 15, 16, 18 year old kids' hearts and minds and from their experience. Basically saying, here's how you can respect me in this arena called athletics. Here's how you can show respect to me as an athlete and also help my performance, which we all want to do," said Bruce Brown.
Brown says he concentrates most of his programs towards coaches because coaches are the key to almost every successful experience kids have with sports.
