ELLENSBURG, Wash. -- On Saturday, the Central Washington Wildcats snapped Humboldt State's 6-game winning streak and continued a winning streak of their own, 9 consecutive winning seasons.
Now, the Wildcats are back on top of the GNAC Conference. The 'Cats have a bye week this weekend before taking on Simon Fraser at Tomlinson Stadium, November 6th.
Coach Blaine Bennett loved how his team started against Humboldt State, getting out to a 20-0 lead.
"We tried to focus on coming out fast and dominating the line of scrimmage that 1st half and I think we did that," said Bennett. "We slowed down a little bit in that 4th quarter with the penalties and some of the things we did but, all in all, a good victory for us. It keeps us on track for that conference championship goal of ours and now we go into the bye week. It gives us a chance to get healthy and finish strong with those last two GNAC wins."
