Oct 27 - Fundraiser for baby Ridge
Baby Ridge was born to Erin and Cole Hansen of Yakima on October 12th at Yakima Memorial. He was 6 weeks premature but otherwise seemed to be healthy. After spending 8 days in NICU he was emergency airlifted to Children's hospital in Seattle where he was diagnosed with Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC) which means the tissue in his colon and intestines was dying. He has since undergone 2 surgeries, the last to remove all but 10cm of his small intestine and half of his colon. He is also suffering from severe jaundice and is showing signs of liver damage. While the surgery has been a success and his vitals are improving, Baby Ridge has a long road of recovery ahead of him, including more surgeries and a probable 5 month stay in the hospital. Erin and Cole were able to get a room at Ronald McDonald house, but there are so many things to consider for this new Mom and Dad.
