Prosser Back Near the Top

PROSSER, Wash. -- The Prosser Mustangs football team missed the playoffs last year, something pretty rare when you consider the team has 5 state titles in its history.

But, in the latest AP Poll, head Coach Benji Sonnichsen and the Mustangs are ranked 5th and are undefeated in their league.

Their only loss came in week one against 3A and still undefeated Kamiakin. Mustangs host Toppenish Friday night.

As Prosser wins, people are starting to take notice of the Mustangs again.

"We feel like we are more respected," said quarterback T.J. Finn. "We feel like this year when we step on the field we demand perfection out of our team and we feel like it's going well."

"Our kids are really determined," said Sonnichsen. "They had a chip on their shoulder and they still do. They want to make a dent in the playoffs and be talked about."
