YAKIMA, Wash-- The Yakima County Sheriff's deputy arrested for alleged physical and sexual assault is still in jail Friday night.  It is likely that he will spend the weekend in custody.

The Yakima County Sheriff's Deputy was arrested Wednesday night after a Selah woman said he pointed his gun at her, beat and raped her while on duty.  Selah police are handling the investigation, which the chief calls a time-intensive process.  According to him, they are handling the process the same as if an average citizen was being accused.

"The only difference is because of the law enforcement employment we would contact that respective agency and advise them of the information or the criminal complaint, says Selah Police Chief Stacy Dwarshius."

Selah Police did notify the Yakima Sheriff's Office.  YSO has put deputy Moore on administrative leave and are conducting an internal investigation. Pending the outcome of that, deputy Moore is on administrative leave.

Chief Dwarshius says the deputy and his accuser were well acquainted but he would not say what their exact relationship is however they are investigating this as a domestic violence incident.
