KENNEWICK, Wash --Dr. Kaleem Ullah who is the Iman of the Tri-Cities Islamic Center in West Richland, and today he spoke at the Columbia Basin Badger Club meeting at the Red Lion Hotel in Kennewick
Dr. Ullah is originally from India and says extremist governments and terrorists are ruining the reputation of a peaceful religion. He also says the people in the Tri-Cities are very open minded and he's proud to be from here.
"I've never faced any bigotry. I remember one time right after 9/11 someone threw a stone into the window of our Mosque and broke it. The next day we received a letter from our neighborhood, they said they we are very sorry. They said if we want to fix it, they would pay," says Ullah.
Dr. Ullah also addressed recent Islamic controversies like the burning of the Kuran and the mosque being built near the 9/11 site.
