YAKIMA, Wash- Hundreds of veterans descended on Yakima Saturday for the annual Stand Down event. These events are held all over the country to honor veterans and provide them with access to information and services. Vets who attended were able to get things like haircuts, flu shots, dental care, clothes, housing assistance, and counseling all for free.
Organizers say one of the main focuses of the event is to reach out to homeless vets. Yakima typically has the largest stand down turnout in Washington State. Today's event brought out 851 people.
