KENNEWICK, Wash.-- The Benton-Franklin Red Cross and Yakima Valley Red Cross want you to nominate anyone you know who's a "Real Hero."
Every year, the Red Cross recognizes people in the area who helped someone, saved a life, or made the community a better place. Categories include fire rescue, medical, work site safety, animal rescue, and community group. Jeanne Jelke, Executive Director of the Benton-Franklin Red Cross, says, "It usually involved putting someone else's welfare above and beyond your own welfare. It's seeing something that needs to be done and just doing it because it needs to be done, not thinking twice about it."
In the Tri-Cities, you have until the end of November to submit their name and what they did. Click here for a link to the nomination form.
The Yakima Valley Red Cross is accepting nominations until the middle of January. You can pick up a nomination form in their office on South Second Street in Yakima.
