Nobody seriously injured 4 car accident on SR 240

KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Traffic was slowed today after a 4 car accident on westbound State Route 240.

It happened around 8 Tuesday morning on the Edison Street exit. Troopers with the Washington State Patrol say the driver of a pick-up truck hauling a trailer, failed to brake in time and hit the car in front of him, causing a chain reaction.

Troopers say this exit in particular sees more of these types of accidents, but they can be avoided by simply focusing on the road.

"Yeah this exit here we get a lot of collisions when people aren't paying attention," says Trooper Oscar Garcia. "They should expect, early in the morning or later in the evening, when people are getting off work, traffic gets really congested; because of the fact there's a stop sign at the end of the exit and people have to yield the right of way to traffic coming down Edison."

Troopers cited the man driving the pick-up truck. Emergency crews transported a pregnant woman to the hospital with minor back injuries. She is expected to be ok, troopers say it was more of a precaution because of the pregnancy.
