Flu season may be lighter than anticipated

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, Wash. -- While most people across the US are preparing for the flu season, one local physician says it may be a light flu year.  "We're looking at reports from other parts of the world and winter is just finishing in the southern hemisphere, it's been a light flu season in Australia. Typically flu is going to hit Europe first. We're not really seeing that increasing," says Dr.Crawford of Physicians Immediate Care and Medical Center in Richland.

Dr. Crawford says it typically hits the East Coast first and we should start to see it in the Northwest about the third week in December. He says remember to still wash your hands and get the flu shot if you think you need it.
