Top 5 Plays of the WeekPosted: Updated:
The high school sports scene is in playoff mode this November, and our local athletes made some noise in trying to claim a state title for their school.
5.) Starting in the Tri-Cities, Selah Volleyball made it to the 2A state championship game against Pullman. In the fourth set, Tori Dexter from a ways back uncorked one in for the kill. Sadly her Vikings fall in the championship and finish second in state. Congrats.
4.) Zillah's football season came to an end in a heartbreaking 21-20 loss to Omak on Saturday. This can at least provide some comfort. Ricky Cuellar leaping up and snagging a pick to take home a top five play of the week. Go get it.
3.) More volleyball: Kennewick High made it to the state tournament for the first time in school history. What an entrance for Meghan Mcintyre, because on her first service of the opening match she racked up two aces. Ownage.
2.) Back on the grid iron: Kamiakin's Joey Joey Jansen and Tyler Holle unleashing on Kelso. Jansen hooking up with Holle for 47 yards for his first pitch and catch of the day. The very next offensive possession, Jansen and Holle going back to the well. This time 53 yards. Simply put... throw it up in the air, and Holle will go get it.
1.) Play number one comes from the most explosive player on turf. Connell's Matt Hadley normally a running back, and runs so well, rushing for 220 yards Saturday for six touchdowns. On this play he gets the pitch and flips it up for Kraymer Eppich for a touchdown pass. Hadley, what a stud.
