YAKIMA, Wash. -- The City of Yakima will be paying out $430,000 as part of a legal settlement. This was announced today at the city's media briefing. The settlement comes four years after two teenagers were hit by a driver being chased by police. The families of the teens sued the city of Yakima. Their claims state that officers "failed to enforce safe pursuit policies and thereby caused these injuries."

Councilman Dave Edler says, ""we've recognized that this is a settlement we can all live with and have continued to maintain good relations with the families."

The settlement is expected to be approved at tomorrow's council meeting. Tomorrow's meeting will also include a farewell to Fire Chief Charlie Hines and a public hearing on the 2011 budget.
