CONNELL, Wash. -- In the small city of Connell, football has a winning tradition.
The Eagles won a state title last year and finished 2nd in the state in 2006 and 2007. What's even better, their best player, Matt Hadley, is only a junior.
The Eagles battle Chelan on Saturday in Moses Lake for a ticket to the state semi-finals. And despite the fact that success on the football field almost seems to be expected in Connell, the Eagles aren't looking past Chelan.@
"They're good," said Connell Head Coach Wayne Riner. "They're explosive. They've got a big receiver that you have to double up a lot of the time. Their quarterback is very elusive and a very good athlete. They're big. They match up well with us and that's going to make it a great game."
"They're an unbelievable team and trying to stop them again is going to be really, really tough," said Hadley. The Eagles beat Chelan 35-7 earlier this season.
