Chiawana Riverhawks: The Big Turnaround

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash. -- With the Chiawana Riverhawks, it is the ultimate turnaround story. In the school's first year in existance, the Riverhawks went 1-9, last in the Big 9's Cascade Division.

This year, the Riverhawks are 10-0 and play Saturday for a ticket into the state semifinals. This year's team has been absolutely dominant, outscoring their opponents 347 to 95.

Coach Steve Graff says he had faith in his players.

"These are Pasco kids," said Graff. "They're tough kids. They understand what it takes to get to the next level and they did that in the offseason. We just couldn't finish [last year] and our motto this year was to finish and we've been doing that lately."
