PENDLETON, Ore. -- Oregon State Police have released the name of a man who died in an early morning collision just south of Pendleton.
They say 48 year old Danny Schademan died at the scene. He was driving northbound on Highway 395 at 4:30 Monday morning when he lost control of his car. The Pilot Rock man swerved into the southbound lane and was hit in the side. Police say it happened about nine miles south of Pendleton, and that stretch of road was icy.
44 year old Gary Lathrop from Pendleton was driving the second car that hit Schademan. He was transported to St. Anthony Hospital with serious injuries. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
The highway was closed for about six hours but is now open.
