RICHLAND, Wash. - With a high number of car accidents, the need for blood donors can increase.
Two schools had planned to have blood drives, but classes were canceled due to the weather. Red Cross workers had a drive at their Richland Center and one at the Pasco Walmart, to try to make up the 60 units of blood they were hoping to get at the schools. One donor says he likes doing his part wherever and whenever he can.
"Get in the chair, find the vain, stick it in and 4 minutes and 20 seconds later I was done. it's nice to be able to contribute to the quality of other people's lives," says Walter Kooy.
Red Cross Donor Centers in Richland and Mattawa will be open Wednesday from 1 to 6.
If you'd like to donate call "1-800 give life" and make an appointment.
