SEATTLE (AP) - Washington state hospitals are becoming more transparent. Thanks to a new state law, they will be posting surgery infection data online starting Tuesday.
State officials say it's the first time hospital-specific information about infections after surgery will be available to the public in Washington state.
The information pasted by the Washington State Hospital Association is designed to help hospitals improve, assist consumers in making good decisions about hospital care and encourage collaboration between hospitals and quality experts.
Infection rate data will be posted for some heart surgeries, knee and hip replacement and hysterectomies.
