High school age parents receive book donations

PASCO, Wash.--  Young parents at New Horizons High School in Pasco received books for their children today.

The Columbia Center Rotary donated money to the Children's Reading Foundation, which used the money for kids books.  Rotary members also paired up with teen moms to help mentor the girls.

Beatriz Sanchez, 20, attends New Horizons and has two children, ages 1 1/2 and 3 1/2.  She says the coaching and books both help.  Sanchez explains, "My daughter, she doesn't talk, but she knows what's going on in the books and you can tell by the expression on her face.  And my son, he's already starting to read."

New Horizons also provides childcare for any of its student parents who need the daycare assistance.  The on-site nursery also received book donations today.
