Sponsor a family for Christmas

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.-Domestic Violence Services of Benton and Franklin Counties is encouraging people to sponsor a family for Christmas.

The agency says many of their clients need basic items like toiletries, diapers, food and clothing.

Leaders say Christmas gifts and decorations can give the family a sense of normalcy during a traumatic time.

"The kid's eyes are as big as silver dollars as they see the stuff come in. The first person with an armful they think, 'Oh wow!'. Then they see more things and more things and they're often just in awe," says Erinn Gailey of DVS.

On average DVS finds enough sponsors for about 40 families a year. Click here for a link to their website, where you can learn more about sponsoring a family.
