Top Five Plays of the WeekPosted: Updated:
It's time to unveil this week's top five best plays:
5.) The basketball season opened up on Friday night. Zillah laying out on opening night. Scottie Rojas diving to the ground to win a loose ball battle. He then flings it up the floor to Marco Rodriguez, who feeds Joel Yellow Owl in stride for the lay in.
4.) Play number four featuring good defense that set up the offense. Chiawana's Melanie Valdez gets in the way of pass, and then charges up the floor for the hoop and the harm. Valdez is a senior and will take her talents to Central Washington University next fall.
3.) This play you can watch over and over... and you still will not understand how this young man made this shot. Kennewick High Junior, Reggie Clinton, dribbling behind his back like he's playing street ball against Walla Walla. He then drives, draws contact and still buries the jumper. Reggie Clinton, I have a feeling you'll be a regular on top five plays of the week.
2.) A constant in the top five would be Connell running back Matthew Hadley. He had a record setting day for Connell in Saturday's 1A state championship game. Taking a direct snap in the third quarter to the outside, and runs 40 plus yards and in for the score. Hadley had four touchdowns in all, moving his season total to 51 touchdowns. That's a new Washington State High School football record. Sadly his Eagles fell to Cascade Christian in the 1A state championship game.
1.) Look away Coug fans for play number one. Really no doubt about it. Huskies quarterback Jake Locker in the final minute of a tie ball game in the Apple Cup, connects with Jermaine Kearse in the corner of th end zone to give U-Dub a 35-28 victory. The win propelling the Huskies to a bowl game for the first time since 2002.
