3 injured in early morning car crash

WHITE SWAN, Wash. -- Three people are sent to the hospital after their vehicle rolled early Wednesday morning off Signal Peak Road.

The accident happened just before 2:00 a.m. at 2190 Signal Peak Road, about one mile south of White Swan.

According to a release sent by the Washington State Patrol, the driver Lonzell Lucei, 22, of Wapato, Joseph Smiscon, 31, of White Swan and
Elizabeth Benson, 26 of Toppenish were taken to a hospital in Toppenish.

State Patrol reports that the 1992 Pontiac Sunfire, driven by Lucei, left the roadway and hit a culvert causing the vehicle to roll. Lucei was thrown from his vehicle.

WSP states none of the three occupants were wearing their seat belts. State Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident. WSP reports drugs and alcohol were involved.

A spokesperson for Toppenish Community Hospital said Benson was treated and released as of Wednesday afternoon, and Lucei and Smiscon were transferred to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. At this time both of the men's conditions are unknown.
