RICHLAND, Wash. -- Richland residents are getting ready for a new Gold's Gym to be built, but before that happens, a temporary facility will soon open.
The facility will be up and running within the next few days. Large equipment started coming through the doors Monday. The gym's biggest loads will be Thursday and Friday.
The gym will have enough cardio and weight machines, as well as free weights for about 100 people. A Gold's representative says they have had an overwhelming number of people signing-up. Most won't use the temporary facility, but are taking advantage of a reduced price being offered. All they need in order to open is the OK from the city.
Jon Evans, Director of Fitness says, "we had to do some different electrical things and make it up to standards for what we need in the club. The city is just going to be making sure everything is up to code and following all the necessary things that they do in their inspections and it should be based on our contractor a fairly good inspection"
The gyms permanent Richland facility design is now finalized. It will be 15,000 square feet bigger than the Kennewick facility. It will also have hot yoga, a track for athletic training, and one more racquetball court. They plan to break ground in January.
