Officials say to keep off the slick roads during freeze advisory

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash-- Officials are reminding drivers that the freezing rain advisory over the Yakima and Columbia Basin Valleys is  an excellent  reason to stay off of the roads.

They say if you must travel they say it's very important to keep a distance between the car in front of yours.

Office Aaron Hamel with Kennewick Police Department says, " you need to obviously decrease your speeds, and also don't make any sudden movements when you're driving.  Just very slow turns, slow stops, slow acceleration, because any sudden movements, that's going to cause your vehicle to lose control.'

If your looking for information on road closures and delays call 5-1-1.
