SPOKANE, Wash. (Dec. 13) -- The Great Northwest Athletic Conference office has named Central Washington University center Chris Sprinker (Tacoma, Wash./Curtis HS) as the men's basketball Player of the Week for his efforts in the Wildcats' 67-65 victory over conference opponent Saint Martin's this past Saturday.
Sprinker, a 6-foot-9 senior, has now earned top player honors twice, as he earned the accomplishment two weeks ago. He is the first Central player to win the award twice in a season since Lance Den Boer accomplished the feat during the 2006-07 season.
In Central's lone contest of the week, Sprinker scored a game- and season-high 22 points and engineered a second-half comeback as he scored 16 of his points in the final period to help the Wildcats remain undefeated on the season with an 8-0 record.
Sprinker now leads the team in scoring at 17.0 points per game and also leads the GNAC in blocked shots with 18.
Central Washington next travels to Las Vegas, Nev., this week to compete in the Great Western Shootout. The Wildcats face Rollins College (Fla.) on Thursday (Dec. 16) and West Region foe Cal State San Bernardino on Friday (Dec. 17) at 5 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
