Free trees to families in need

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- A local business man has about 50 Christmas trees left to give out to families who are struggling this holiday season.

Steve Osmonson and his wife have been giving away Christmas trees for 3 years now. This year, he's giving away 100 trees from the Griswald Family Trees Lot on Clearwater Avenue, but he only has 50 left.

Osmonson tells KNDU he knows what it's like for families who are going through hard times during the holidays. "One year my family and I went through a tough Christmas and my wife's family came together for us. And knowing how if feels not to be able to give that Christmas to your kids, it just breaks your heart. That inspired me the first year I did do this for people."

Steve also personally delivers the trees to your home. He's also accepting donations, like Christmas tree stands. Contact him at 460-7628 if you would like to help, or receive a free tree.
