Another top Yakima official resigns

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash- Yakima city government is going to see yet another change in 2011.  Assistant city manager Dave Zabell has announced that he is stepping down.  He has held his position for five years.

It is unclear when it will be filled because Yakima will vote in February on a change in forms of government.  This could drastically affect the nature of the assistant city manager position.  But Zabell still offered some advice for his successor.

"As far as our division managers as well as out department heads. I think trusting those folks and getting to know them and working with them would be the first step", Zabell recommends.

Zabell joins the growing list of high-ranking city officials stepping down.  City manager Dick Zais, and police chief Sam Granato announced earlier this year that they will be leaving; fire chief Charlie Hines left in November.  Zabell will be taking the city manager position in fife.  His last day will be January 7.
