NEAR SELAH, Wash. -- The body pulled from the Roza Canal Tuesday morning has been identified as a missing 23 year old man from Lake Stevens.
The family of Miguel Angel Lopez-Margarito was at the scene when rescue crews recovered his body at North Selah Road and Trail Road.
Lopez-Margarito went missing early Monday morning from a mobile home park north of Selah. His family says he was drunk and made suicidal statements before leaving barefoot. Family members followed his footprints in the snow, until they reached the Roza Canal. Deputies took over the search from there.
It took deputies over 30 hours to find Lopez-Margarito's body about 2 miles from where they believe he went in. It is unclear whether he entered the canal on accident or intentionally. An autopsy will be performed.
