SPOKANE, Wash. -- Almost a month and a half ago, the trial for the man accused of killing five men inside a Pasco auto body shop back in 1987 was moved to Spokane. The move happened after the judge said there was too much media coverage to find an impartial jury...causing the second mistrial in the case against Vicente Ruiz.
A verdict is now expected to be reached any day (23 years later). Ruiz was charged in Franklin County Superior Court with five counts of aggravated 1st murder and one count of 1st attempted murder.
So far, about $478,000 has been spent. If a verdict is reached soon, the total is an estimated $700,000. Final arguments have wrapped up and now we are waiting to hear what the jury will decide.
