Benton County has a new sheriff, coroner and commissioner
KENNEWICK, Wash. - Benton County has a new sheriff, coroner and commissioner.
It was standing room only as the 3 elected officials were sworn in at the Benton County Justice Center. Steve Keane was sworn in as the Benton County Sheriff, John Hansens as Benton County Coroner and Shon Small as Benton County Commissioner.
Part of the ceremony included a brief biography of each official. In fact, each of them all had law enforcement in common. Keane started with the Hanford Patrol, Hansens with Richland Police and Small with Prosser Police. Sheriff Larry Taylor and Richland Police Chief Tony Corsi were also there to give their support.
"One of the top priorities for me is to put together a citizen advisory committee made up of citizens across the county to explore different law enforcement issues in the community and quality of life issues, and things like that, said Steven Keane, Benton County Sheriff.
"It was wonderful to see so many people here. All the people that I know, I've been with the police department for 32 years, so I know all these law enforcement officers in the room, so that makes it real special," said John Hansens, Benton County Coroner.
The new elected officials take office January 1st.
