Gov. Gregoire appoints new Yakima judge

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Governor Chris Gregoire appointed a new judge to Yakima County Superior Court on Wednesday.

Robert Lawrence-Berrey will replace Judge Michael Schwab, who is retiring at the end of the year.

Lawrence-Berrey has been in private practice in Yakima since 1990. His primary areas of law have included agriculture, construction, insurance and commercial.

He earned his undergraduate degree from Whitman College and his law degree from Willamette University.

Lawrence-Berrey takes over on January 11, 2011.
