Good Samaritan credited for stopping sexual assault in Richland
RICHLAND, Wash. - A Kennewick man is behind bars accused of a violent sexual assault in Richland Sunday night.
Police arrested John Magana for allegedly raping a woman who is an acquaintance of his wife. The assault happened near Claybell Park in Richland around 8 PM Sunday, but was stopped after a college student who was out for a jog saw what was happening.
KNDU spoke with the good Samaritan, Abraham Toure. He said, "I would feel terrible if I would have walked by and then they would have found some girl lying over there today or something like that. So, I wouldn't have been able to live with myself if I hadn't tried to do something."
After the attack, the 29 year old Magana crashed his car into a construction vehicle nearby and Richland Police caught him in the area. They say he has a long criminal record. He was charged with 1st degree rape among other things.
