The City of Yakima was named the top market for restaurant expansion in the country by a national survey.
The 2011 "Growth 40" ranks small, medium, and large city's based on information collected by QSR magazine and Pitney Bowes Business Insight. Yakima was selected for its low restaurant competition and growing population. The ranking specifically identified "quick-serve" restaurants as a sector for expansion in the city.
There are 4,000 people per quick-serve restaurant in Yakima and the medium income household is $42,284, according to Pitney Bowes.
Three other cities in Washington made the top ten spots for the rankings; Wenatchee, Bellingham, and Olympia. The Northwest as a region was a standout for the small, medium, and large lists.
