KENNEWICK, Wash.—Streets will hopefully be safer Wednesday after workers spend Tuesday covering them in de-icer in preparation for cooler weather.
All main streets, intersections and hills were worked on starting at 7:00am. Workers say the de-icer will last for a few days, but they have to disperse it early.
"That way traffic will help you carry it around off into the turn pockets and track a little bit farther down the road to create that barrier to where your ice and snow won't have a tendency to set up in your intersections and your hills," Jack Weber, City of Kennewick Crew Leader.
Three de-icer trucks and one crew were used throughout the day.
