Lowe gets a second case as special prosecutor

PASCO, WA-The new Franklin County prosecutor has had to turn over another high profile murder trial to his predecessor.

Steve Lowe lost his long-held prosecutor's job to Shawn Sant in November's election, but Sant, as a public defender, represented Gregorio Luna Luna at the time.

On Wednesday, Sant named Lowe as special prosecutor, with Benton County Prosecutor Andy Miller serving as co-counsel.

Pasco Police arrested Luna Luna last May for the stabbing death of Griselda Ocampo Meza at her apartment. Court records show Meza had filed a protection order against Luna Luna as the two argued over their five-year-old son.

Because of the change of attorneys, judge Robert Swisher has pushed back the trial to April.

Earlier this week, Sant named Lowe as special prosecutor to the murder case of Ramon Garcia Morales. Sant is also expected to turn over the prosecution of Morales' brother, Jose.
