YAKIMA, Wash. -- Actor Kyle MacLachlan has been chosen to be the featured speaker at The First Tee of Yakima's 4th Annual "Breakfast with the Pros" event in March.
MacLachlan, a Yakima native, has appeared in many movies, including "Dune" and "Blue Velvet." The former Eisenhower High School graduate made a name for himself in 1990, for his role as special agent Dale Cooper in the "Twin Peaks" Television series. He also has recurring roles on "Desperate Housewives."
While growing up in Yakima, MacLachlan learned to play golf with his father Kent. He played in several celebrity pro-am tournaments around the world, including the Dunhill Links Tournament at St. Andrews in Fife, Scotland.
You can get a chance to see MacLachlan at the "Breakfast with the Pros" fundraising event for The First Tee of Yakima on March 14, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the Yakima Convention Center.
Last year, the event raised about $30,000 for The First Tee of Yakima. The youth program aimes at teaching important values and skills associated with learning and playing the game of golf.
In 2010 more than 350 boys and girls participated in The First Tee of Yakima's 10-week long summer classes.
