Wake boarders take on Columbia River for good cause
KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Some brave souls took on the Columbia River Saturday morning, all in the name of charity for the 3rd Annual Polar Bear Ride.
Participants wake boarded on the frigid waters, and paid for their participation on Clover Island.
Last year, the wake boarders sent a sick boy and his family to the happiest place on earth.
"Last year we raised a little over four thousand dollars for Nathan Finke, for him and his family to go to Disney Land," says Jeff Scherer, the event organizer.
This year, 15 riders participated in the Polar Bear Ride, and they raised a $1,100. The money is going to send a 10 year girl named Evett from Yakima who has battled many heart complications. She's also hoping for a trip to Disneyland.
