Terrace Heights fire displaces family of five

YAKIMA, Wash- A Terrace Heights family is getting help from the Red Cross tonight after a fire destroyed their home.  At about 8:30am East Valley firefighters responded to the 700 block of North 38th Street and found the north side of the house on fire.  Firefighters say they initially focused on stopping the spread of the fire but then they had a bigger concern.

"A few minutes into the fire we were advised again that there possibly maybe was somebody inside so we had to shift our plan a little bit at that time to rescue mode", says Captain Rob Layman

It turned out no one was inside and there were no injuries.  Captain Layman estimates the damage at $180,000.   The cause is unknown but an investigator will be on scene Monday.
