Tri-Cities kids perform in national Wizard of Oz show
KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The national tour of The Wizard Of Oz played at a almost sold out show at the Toyota Canter Windermere Theater Sunday. The show featured 12 boys and girls in the national production from the Tri-Cities Academy of Ballet and Music in Richland.
"We've been practicing every day ...Every week day at our ballet studio," says Tyson Robinson, a 13 year dancer who played a Munchkin in the production.
The twelve children spent Sunday afternoon going through the moves at the Toyota Center with the Munchkin Coordinator, Lauren Kadel from the New York production studio.
"They're doing great. They learned the material really well. We're just adding some more characters. Making them bigger, more comfortable...crazy munchkins," says Kadel.
The students have been practicing the number since November. Kadel says it's the 287 national show for them and Sunday is their only showing in Kennewick.
