One man dead in Kennewick shooting

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.—One person was found dead Tuesday at 1:20AM after police responded to a burglary and gunshots. The 200 block of North Buntin Street was tapped off with caution tape all morning and afternoon.

Police and the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab were gathering evidence and working into the evening. Police say the person killed was a man and is not the homeowner. However, they are not releasing any names at this time.

Neighbors say they are pretty shaken up after hearing gunshots. "It's not safe. It's hard. It's going to be hard to go to sleep at night now," says Andrea Sanchez, neighbor.

Sanchez heard the gunshots and says she gathered her two children right away. Now even after the shooting has stopped, she says she is still concerned for their safety.
