Horizon Air cancels flights in Tri Cities and Walla Walla ahead of storm
PASCO, Wash. -- Leaders from Horizon Air listened to the weather forecast and canceled a couple of flights both in the Tri Cities and Walla Walla in anticipation of the winter storm that hit Tuesday evening.
Horizon canceled the last flights in from Seattle Tuesday evening and the first flights out to Seattle Wednesday morning.
With freezing rain a possibility, Horizon leaders didn't want to take any chances.
"We were concerned naturally about whether the flight could operate safely and land in Pasco. Even if it did, we didn't want the aircraft to get trapped over there if there was rain or snow tomorrow (Wednesday)morning, so we reactively made the decision to go ahead and cancel that one roundtrip flight," said Paul McElroy from Alaska Airlines.
McElroy also said Workers if you're traveling Wednesday, it's a good idea to check the status of your flight often just in case there are any changes. As of early Wednesday morning, all of Horizon's flights after the first early flight were listed as on schedule. So far the other airlines haven't canceled any flights.
