Ellensburg man injured in snowmobile accident

ELLENSBURG, Wash. -- An Ellensburg man injured his hip after hitting a tree while snowmobiling in the Table Mountain area, according to the Kittitas County Sheriff's Office.

Neil O'Neil, 51, was riding with fellow Kittitas County Search and Rescue volunteers in the Neeley Creek drainage, about 20 miles north of Ellensburg.

The accident happened around 12:15 p.m. Wednesday.

SAR coordinator Sgt. Fred Sylfield was joined by volunteers who responded to the incident, along with Kittitas Valley Fire and Rescue crews.

O'Neil was transported out of the back country by snowmobile and taken by ambulance to Kittitas Valley Community Hospital.
